The Barrel Sauna is constructed of hand-selected, clear red cedar lumber that is cut from managed forests in western Canada. Only the choicest of lumber is used, and care is taken to insure that minimal unsightly knots or wood imperfections are visible in the lumber. The lumber is hand-milled into a ball and socket profile that allows the staves to nest snuggly together when drawn tight with the stainless steel bands. Each of the staves is dado-cut on each end to allow the front and back wall sections of the sauna to nest into the stave, creating a tight joint that gives the sauna structural integrity and an impressive design.
